Surrogacy occurs when a woman becomes pregnant for the purpose of carrying a child for intended parents. Traditional surrogacy is when a woman uses her own egg and the intended father’s sperm. A woman is called a gestational surrogate or carrier when she becomes pregnant using a donor egg fertilized outside her womb. The family receiving the child are called the intended parents. Assisted Reproductive Technology (“ART”) involves fertility treatments where egg and sperm are combined in the laboratory and returned
to the surrogate’s body. The surrogate can be the egg donor or an unrelated
gestational carrier.
DENA MOORE LAW GROUP provides professional and personalized
service to both intended parents and surrogates. Before beginning medical
procedures, the intended parents and surrogate will enter into a contract with
each other setting out each party’s obligations toward their mutual goal of
achieving pregnancy, birth, and legal parenthood. The surrogacy contract will
cover such issues as surrogate compensation, health and life insurance, non-
covered medical expenses, medical screening, psychological evaluations, and
attorney fees.
DENA MOORE LAW GROUP will help you during the contract creation
process and the subsequent legal process to ensure that your surrogacy
experience is as stress-free and smooth as possible.
